Speedy Knitting and Crochet Projects
If you are anything like me, you’ll be full of good intentions to hand make Christmas gifts and you get to this point in the year and think it’s never going to happen.
I’ve pulled together some of my favourite speedy knitting and crochet projects for you so you can still impress your friends and family this year!
The first super quick pattern I have made is the Infinity Headband Knitting Pattern by Knits for Life that I made using some Fluorite aran yarn earlier this year (pictured on the left) It’s great for keeping the wind out of your ears while on winter walks.
Right next to that is another quick pattern for a crochet cowl - This is one I have available for free on here - Chunky Acquiesce Cowl. This crochet pattern can be easily be adapted for different weights of yarn and I’ve gifted this to several teachers over the years.
These were both made using my Fluorite colourway in an aran weight and I might just have to add it to my dye list. However, you can find other Aran weight yarns here…
Another great way to still create something luxurious but speedy is the Present Cowl by Mademoiselle C which is a free pattern available on Ravelry. This was actually knitted by one of my beginner’s knitters earlier this year using 100% Baby Alpaca. This is honestly the softest yarn and the perfect present! There will be more alpaca yarn coming in the Shop Update this Friday 27th November at 7pm.
Another option may be to use a fingering weight yarn but on larger needles which makes it work up quicker. I recently knitted the super popular Storm Shawl by Joji Locatelli with a single skein of Cupro Fingering Weight Yarn and it makes for a beautiful lightwieght shawl that looks far more intricate than it actually is. Remember you can use the filers on the left of the shop to select Cupro yarn fibre.
Ok this is a bit of a cheat, but why not gift a kit so that they can make their own knitted hat?! The kits have clear instructions, video tutorials and come with yarn, needles, a pom pom and a pattern for either a cable knit pattern or a plain hat. These hat kits will go on line at 7pm this Friday.
So there, you go, some great speedy knitting and crochet projects that make great gifts.
Don’t worry, if all else fails, there’s always next year….
