Are you a monogamous knitter???
Are you a one project kind of person?
Nope, me neither!
I’m easily distracted.
As I scrolled through Instagram a few weeks ago, I came across the Bright feather Sweater by Jennifer Steingass and I knew I HAD to knit it! Such a gorgeous, fluffy, wearable design.
Within a couple of hours, I’d bought the pattern, picked out yarn and cast on. I love immersing myself into a new project, figuring it out, concentrating, seeing how the colours work together…
The colour work yoke was so addictive. I chose Sapphire Merino Silk Yak as the main colour (as I’m obsessed with wearing navy) and Northern Lights on the Alpaca Silk Lace base held together with a strand of Rowan Kid Silk white mohair. The northern lights yarn is a silvery grey with flecks of green, purple and orange through it but paired with the white mohair it makes it look even more subtle and delicate.
I separated the sleeves of this sweater within a week of starting it and just hit a lull. I love it and it’s definitely something I’ll wear regularly but I’m having to make myself do a few rows of knit, knit, knit, round and round before I do anything else. I will finish it, however I might have cast on another 3 (OK 5) projects before that happens!
The other big project I’m working on just now is the Shusui Shrug by Susanne Sommer. Wow was that a challenge to begin with though! Brioche, increasing and and i-cord to contend with - that kept me busy for a few nights. I chose Huhuli and Murtagh for my two colours and although they work well together, I am wondering whether I should have used something with a bit more of a contrast. Hey ho, done too much to rip it back now.
I’m also trying out these yarn cosies with this project. I’d seen a few people using them and thought I’d have a go at making some. This fab knit print jersey fabric was left over from making neckwarmers. They are definitely helping to keep the yarn cake together and stop tangles.
Guess what though, I separated for the sleeves and I’m now on to a ‘fairly’ easy section so I’m getting bored.
Only one thing for it, cast on something else!
I’ll blog about this Harriet’s Hat next time…..
